  • We use AI. cupl uses models like GPT-4o (or comparable systems). These are not humans. They help you reflect, but sometimes they get things wrong.
  • Your privacy matters. We don't sell your data. Ever.

3. Where This Policy Applies

This covers cupl.io, cuplCompanion, our app (once live), and communications like emails and SMS.

4. What Data We Collect

What you give us:

  • Name, email, login info
  • Relationship status, preferences (if you share them)
  • Anything you share during conversations with cuplCompanion
  • Communication preferences

What we collect automatically:

  • Device info (IP address, browser type, device ID)
  • Usage data (pages visited, time on site, features used)
  • General location (city/state via IP, not GPS unless you say yes)

Biometric data (with consent):

If you use voice features, we process voice recordings and convert them to transcripts to provide and improve cupl. These are stored with your consent and not linked to health profiles.

  • To personalize your interactions (like remembering past sessions)
  • To develop and train our AI models responsibly
  • For research and service improvement (using anonymized, aggregated data)

We do not use your data to make decisions about your access to features. We don't share your data for advertising.

6. AI Transparency

We use AI models (like GPT-4o or others) to power cuplCompanion. These models remember past sessions for continuity if you're logged in. AI outputs may be reviewed by humans to ensure quality.

We do not use your personal data to train third-party models.

We do not use AI systems to make decisions that have legal, financial, or similarly significant effects on you. AI interactions are designed to support reflection, not assess eligibility, access, or well-being.

7. Sharing Your Data

We share your data only with:

  • Trusted service providers (cloud hosting, analytics, customer support platforms, communications tools like email/SMS, and payment processors)
  • Legal authorities if required by law
  • Aggregated, anonymous reports (internal use only)

We do not sell your data or share it with advertisers.

8. Cookies & Tracking

We use cookies to run cupl, analyze usage, and improve performance.

  • You can manage cookies through your browser.
  • We do not honor Do Not Track (DNT) browser signals.
  • We do not offer analytics opt-outs at this time.

We do not currently collect sensitive data (health, race, precise geolocation) as defined by California law for profiling. If we collect self-reported relationship info in the future, it will be with your explicit consent.

When we say "aggregated, anonymous," we mean data that cannot reasonably be used to identify you, either alone or when combined with other data.

  • Guest mode: Deleted after your session ends.
  • Logged-in users: Retained until you delete your account or after 24 months of inactivity.
  • Anonymized data: May be retained indefinitely for research and improvement.
  • Legal records: Some records (e.g., transactions) may be kept as required by law.

14. Security

We use industry-standard protections like TLS 1.3 encryption and AES-256 to keep your data safe. No system is perfect, but we work hard to protect you.

15. U.S.-Only

cupl is designed for U.S. users only. We don't target EU, UK, or other jurisdictions.

cupl is for adults 18+. We don't knowingly collect data from children under 18.
